Measuring the carbon footprint
OC Sport Pen Duick is committed to transforming the way a major sailing race is organised over the long term. Limiting the environmental footprint of the event, while giving each visitor the means to enjoy the best possible experience and making it the least greenhouse gas intensive possible.
With this in mind, OC Sport Pen Duick is carrying out a carbon assessment of the event in order to identify the areas that emit the most greenhouse gases (GHG), to define a medium- and long-term reduction trajectory and to draw up an action plan for the future.
What is a carbon footprint?
Carbon contribution - projects with high environmental and social value
In addition to challenging all our practices with a view to minimising the carbon impact of the ARKEA ULTIM CHALLENGE-Brest, we are launching a 100% local carbon contribution plan in collaboration with Agoterra. The idea is simple: to support virtuous and regenerative agricultural initiatives - carried out near Brest - which help to sequester significant quantities of CO2 while supporting a sustainable employment dynamic. Regenerative agriculture also offers numerous co-benefits, such as improving water and soil quality and preserving the surrounding biodiversity.
